CRYSTAL CLEAR TONE (Treble Bleed)

Retain clarity at lower volumes. To make your tone crystal clear at lower volumes we include an Obsidian® Custom spec treble bleed mod. This prevents tone 'muddiness' at low volumes by allowing high frequencies to pass along a separate path to your amp, rather than being stopped short by the increasing resistance at the volume control.

SMART VOLUME CONTROL (Switchable 250k / 500k)

Easily select between 250k & 500k to optimize the treble balance for your setup

250k = Warmer / balanced treble (great for single coils)
500k = Brighter / retains treble (great for humbuckers & P90s)

SMOOTH TONE CONTROL

Add a custom designed master tone control using our ObsidianWire designed, CTS built IGNEOS™ pots, for a smooth and useable tone control taper.

Upgrade Options

DUAL TUNED SC (COIL SPLIT)

Turn your humbucker(s) in to a single coil, and back again. To add true versatility to your guitar we build in DUAL TUNED SC, to split your humbucker(s) to a single-coil for lower output, more dynamic tones.

To keep your single coils sound full and vibrant, we use Tuned 'partial split' technology, for higher output sound with fuller mids, than is possible with a full split.

Cloth Wire / 18cm for Tele etc

Excellent jack

Excellent jack. Holds the cable very securely and was a breeze to wire into the block on the M1. Came with everything I needed to replace the old jack and seat the new one nicely with the hardware included.

Nice Upgrade

One pickup, one volume push/pull, one tone set up for a much needed upgrade for a little gold top Traveler Guitar. Went great. A violin peg head reamer made quick work of enlarging the holes to accommodate the standard size pots. So much easier than soldering. Sounds much better even with the stock humbucker and now easy to pickup swap with much less effort. Looking forward to trying out a few.

Guitar Wiring Harness

Simple to install, no problems.

Absolutely Versatile and Amazing!!

When I first got this in, definitely was a bit intimidated. But with the ease of setup, information included with the Flex and some messaging between ObsidianWire staff, i was able to install it in a matter of minutes!!!

I went with the Short shaft with split coil option single volume pot. I have a 7 string that now homes this absolute versatile control!!

Definitely a must have if youre a hot rodder, or someone who is new to the world of mods. And the response times from the staff is insanely fast and absolutely friendly and helpful!! Definitely going to order another for a future project!

Fantastic Product, Easy to Install

Fantastic product. I had an issue installing my first set (own fault) and the chap was very helpful.

Install was a breeze after that. Instructions are clear and the process is very easy to understand, even without electrical knowledge. Go slow, be methodical and pay attention to the instructions from OW and your pickup wiring guide and you’ll be golden.

The pots themselves have smooth, quick action. This is great for make fast adjustments on stage. PCBs are expertly soldered and wiring locations are arranged to encourage near install.

Overall, my electrics are looking extremely clean, and working as well as they possibly can.

500k Volume / Short - Pickguard / Plate Mount

Works as described.

Just like every other Obsidian product I've purchased, it works exactly as described. Now they just need to come up with a solution for the skinny wires on a four conductor humbucker. Maybe some sort of pigtail adapter, since skinny wires are harder to work with vs vintage style.

Upgrade well worth it

This output jack arrived ready to be added to my guitar. The connection is tight and secure; an improvement over the standard single connection I had. This upgrade was worth it.

Purchased for my best friend's mod project.

I purchased these for my best friend for Christmas. They seem to be great knobs, but I am left-handed and he is not so we'll have to wait until after Christmas to know more. Everything else I have purchased for myself from Obsidian Wire has been stellar.

Guitar Model: Fender Player II Telecaster (lefty)

Install notes: Do watch the videos beforehand. Also the control plate screw slots are just a hair off from the MIM Fender Telecaster. But I was able to screw in both screws without having to drill another hole.

Tonal variety: More Tonal Variety

Main reason for purchase: Increase Tonal Variety, Ease of Upgrade, Faster Pickup Swaps, Experimentation

Expected results: I expected better tone, not knowing what better would be

What where the results?: The tone is clearer, more pristine than stock. The controls are gradual and tone remains full regardless of how you dial in

Why?: Every guitar player should at least know the inner workings of their guitar. This experience was absolutely wonderful in allowing me to understand the electronics and without the anxiety of screwing things up.

Wonderfully Simple

The prewire kit made this project immensely easier and enjoyable. I initially planned on hiring someone to upgrade my tele to a 4 way switch and swap out the pickups. Then I stumbled onto Obsidian while researching the process of installing the new electronics. Once I realize there was no soldering, I smiled and knew I would be doing this on my own. It took about an hour as I am a novice at fixing my guitars, but that was a very enjoyable hour and not a nervous one. The end result was fantastic! My upgraded tele sounds cleaner, allowing the new pick ups to shine. The 4 way switch is just too cool. Having an additional humbucker position adds new joy to playing a telecaster. I would highly recommend Obsidian. This should be the way electric guitars are set up electronically!

Install notes: I had to ream the holes on the control plate with a step drill bit to make the harness fit.

Expected results: I expected better than what I had.

What where the results?: Exceeded even what I expected.

Why?: Better tone, ease of installation. It made a relatively inexpensive bass sound like one costing a lot more.

Lefty Jazz Bass wiring harness

Just perfect! The tone pot on my bass was shot, so I figured I'd upgrade the whole harness. What a great product! So easy to install, even for me! I had to ream out the holes on the plate a little to make the harness fit, but other than that, so simple. Thanks again for a great product and great customer service.

Four down, more to go!

I have installed four to date, and just ordered another, with more to go. I like building guitars with Warmoth necks/bodies and Seymour Duncan pickups. But the soldering mess I would make was always the weak link. It worked, usually, but it was ugly and trouble prone. So I'm going back through and getting rid of the guts of previous builds and putting these in all of them. I can build a guitar that easily equals a Fender "custom shop" for a fraction of the cost. It was always kind of a pain before due to my poor soldering abilities. But now I'm basically snapping it all together. Plus, if I want to sell it, I can take a picture of the inside and it looks beautiful. No way I could have sold my uggo soldered jobs. When you pull these out of the box they ooze quality workmanship. I would love to see Fender Jazz and Gibson/Epiphone SG versions!

Foolproof

I was dreading upgrading my Telecaster pickups due to my poor soldering skills. Research turned up Obsidian. I couldn’t be happier with the results.
