I’m a big fan of upgrading stock wiring harnesses, but have never used Obsidian before. You guys had the only kit that would handle both a single coil and a humbucker in my Tele, so I gave it a shot, and it is so friggin good. The tone on the neck doesn’t suffer at all, the bridge stays nice and twangy, very, very happy with this kid. Highly suggest giving Obsidian a try.
It does what it says, and I was very happy with it.
Only caveat would be if your cavities are shallow, 5-way switch might be a little to big, and you'd need to deepen the cavity, as I had to do.
But other than that everything is perfect.
It was just a good experience, high quality product. I have a Gilmour mode, and it works exactly as it should.
The only thing I needed to do on my guitar was deepening the cavity slightly under the 5 way switch, but that's all.
I highly recommend it!

The prewire kit made this project immensely easier and enjoyable. I initially planned on hiring someone to upgrade my tele to a 4 way switch and swap out the pickups. Then I stumbled onto Obsidian while researching the process of installing the new electronics. Once I realize there was no soldering, I smiled and knew I would be doing this on my own. It took about an hour as I am a novice at fixing my guitars, but that was a very enjoyable hour and not a nervous one. The end result was fantastic! My upgraded tele sounds cleaner, allowing the new pick ups to shine. The 4 way switch is just too cool. Having an additional humbucker position adds new joy to playing a telecaster. I would highly recommend Obsidian. This should be the way electric guitars are set up electronically!
