Custom 4-Way for Tele®

While the 4-way Tele switch isn't a new concept, Obsidian Wire made it amazingly simple for me to add the 'humbucker mode' (both pickups in series) without needing to solder anything. Humbucker mode is punchier in the low midrange, which is great for me as a solo guitar performer, as I don't lose the richness as I do with the traditional parallel setting. Plus, the treble bleed gives me a solid tone regardless of the volume knob position. Now I want to install this in every ASAT and T-style guitar I own. I couldn't be happier!

straight forward install of Fender Lace Sensor Gold pickups into Squier Bullet. For these pickups orange wire is hot. Both the green and white wires are ground. In the case of the neck pickup the green grounds the cover

Used it to upgrade a Squier Affinity Series Telecaster. The addition of the treble bleed and pickup series mode is awesome and adds a great tone. Dropped right in, only had to lengthen one pickup wire.

I put the Tele 4 way wiring kit in Player 2 chambered ash along with Fender custom shop Twisted Tele pickups. OMG! this was so easy and sounds amazing!!! Every guitar I own will be getting obsidian wiring kits!!!! No soldering ever again!!!

Kit works, sounds good and is easy to install, but does not come with CTS pots as shown in the picture, and the pots are loose. Listen to video to hear rattle.

I now have Obsidian Wire Harnesses in three of my guitars. So glad I decided to give them a try. All three guitars now have very nice smooth taper on the volume and tone knobs and are absolutely silent. I'm normally not one for leaving reviews about guitar gear but my experience with these harnesses has been excellent.

This is my 2nd Obsidian harness. Got the 4-way for my Tele. Easy install but I had a bit of confusion so emailed the company and Mathew responded in 24 hrs with the help I needed. Everything worked great and the Tele sounds fantastic. Highly recommended.

Awesome product. Easy installation! Now get 4 usable tones. I don't mind soldering, but this is really easy. Makes me almost want to get more pickups to try.

PSA: Before you alter your pickup, make sure to test it first! Check the ohmage.

I’ve used Obsidian wiring harnesses multiple times, and they’re absolutely worth it. They save time, eliminate headaches, and deliver consistent, high-quality results. While I sometimes enjoy soldering for the experience, most of the time I just want a fast, reliable upgrade, and this nails it.

I did need to convert my neck pickup to a 3-wire setup, but it was surprisingly simple even as a first-timer. Just keep that in mind—either use a 3-wire pickup or be prepared for a little light cutting and soldering.

As a person who hates soldering and who wants premium parts in my guitar, I got the 4-way tele solderless system and it’s really easy to use and convenient to switch out pickups. Really love the creativity on this and I hope ObsidianWire continues innovating amazing products with more varieties.

Great product, my horrible job of copper shielding really hurt the installation. Do not shield your input cavity on any guitar. If your jock touches anything, no sound.

Not only is it an upgrade but the sound feels so natural and clear and the overall build is good quality. Totally worth the money and time. Will most likely use this on my future builds. Thank you!

I made a parts caster for my son. The no solder feature is great. Made installation a breeze. I like the fact that if he wants to change the pickups it will be easy to swap them out. Love the 4th position. It adds a little extra to the tele.

I decided to upgrade the stock pots, switches and output jack for my Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster and realized that I could do the 4-way switch mod at the same time. The Obsidion "Solderless" with a new plate and knobs was the perfect solution. Easy to install, and sounds great. Highly recommended!!!

I got mine installed yesterday with little difficulty. I put it on my Squier Vintage 60s Custom Tele, and it works just fine. If you have a Squier, you do need the knobs and new plate to replace the factory hardware. The Obsidian hardware has different size posts for the knobs, so make sure you get the proper pieces.

New switch and knobs all work as expected. I enjoy having the extra setting of a sort of humbucker now. Definitely worth this upgrade.

There were no instructions relevant to the pickups I was installing which are Fender Gen 4 Noiseless Telecaster pickups. Each of those pickups has 2 grounding wires and, sans specific instructions, it took me a couple of hours of experimenting on where to attach each wire. I finally realized that I need to leave one wire uninstalled and then *voila* it works. Would've been nice to have been able to get in touch with someone at Obsidian about this. I tried reaching out but the question I asked was met with a very generic and unrelated answer. Once I got it working (the next day) it worked fine.

The connectors are fiddly. Other solderless kits use a system with tiny screws to clamp the wires…that works much better. It took me two hours to get the wires to all stay without buzzing. Otherwise, I love this kit

I purchased this from a third party about six months ago. It was installed in my 2010 Standard Telecaster, along with Tonerider Vintage Plus Pickups. It was simple to install, I just read the instructions and took my time.

To be honest, I was doubtful there would be much difference between the series vs parallel positions, but I was blown away how different they are. For me having the series option makes it a must have.

The tone knob was hands down better than what Fender installed in 2010. There is more control.

Pots operate very smoothly. Pickup selector feels sturdy. Sound is quiet and I love the treble bleed! Installation was easy. I’m very satisfied and will definitely use Obsidian Wire for future upgrades.

Just a warning if you shield your guitar. extra contact on the switch plate will make the 1rst position not working.
Lack of explanation about the different positions. Still not sure witch is the serial and parallel mode...
